The Story of Scent: How to Incorporate the Olfactory into Experiential Design Presented by Scentex

Monday, October 18th – 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m

Humans experience the world through sensory receptors: scent is a powerful and protective sense that evokes memories and emotions and helps us to navigate the world. Designers, event planners, architects, and other experience creators typically limit their focus to two or three, and at most four, of our senses. Sight, sound, touch, and taste get a lot of attention. In design, much importance is placed on creating immersive environments, but can we truly succeed in doing so without addressing our olfactory? Olfactive stimulation can heighten the moment, increase awareness, change the mood, and make spaces unforgettable. Learn why and how scent should be considered and strategically utilized in spatial and experience design. Get tickets here.

Designing with Front Range Native Plants Presented by Colorado State University

Tuesday, October 19th – 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Front Range of Colorado provides ample opportunity to design landscapes with native plants that can handle our varied soils, low amounts of natural precipitation and often unpredictable weather patterns. People think that if they take the plunge into the native plant world it’s all or nothing. Not so. You can incorporate natives into your existing plant palettes with ease and they will prove to be an excellent addition to your landscape design. We will be highlighting some of the best native plants to try out in your landscape and we’ll provide example landscape designs and cover their growing requirements along with fun plant combinations. Get tickets here.
